Adobe to Discontinue Shockwave player effective April 9th, 2019

Adobe announced that Shockwave player for Windows will not be available for downloads starting from April 9th as the software giant feels that the usage of Shockwave has decreased as the web has moved to HTML 5 Canvas and WebGL.

However Adobe says that Companies with existing Enterprise licenses for Adobe Shockwave will continue to receive support until the end of their current contracts. 



Adobe Shockwave Player is a freeware software plug-in for viewing multimedia and video games in web pages, content created on Shockwave platform. Over 450 million Internet enabled desktops have Adobe Shockwave player installed. These users have access to some of the best content the web has to offer - including dazzling 3D games and entertainment, interactive product demonstrations and online learning applications.
