How to format Whatsapp messages – Italic, Bold, Strikethrough, Monospace

The app comes standard with tons of great features for messaging, calling and browsing. One of those awesome features of Whatsapp is the fact that you can format text while you message.

Formatting helps you emphasize certain words or phrases by making the italic, bold and it will even let you cross out words.

Let us see how formatting works on whatsapp:

Italic:

To italicize your message, place an underscore on both sides of the text.

Example :        _Cherry Media_

Bold:

To Bold your text, place an asterisk on both sides of text.

Example:    *Cherry Media*

Strikethrough:

To Strikethrough your messages, place a tilde on both sides of the text.

Example:     ~Cherry Media~

Monospace:

To Monospace your message, place 3 backticks on both sides of the text.

Example:       ```Cherry Media by Mekala```

Alternatively on Android smartphones, you can tap and hold the text you are typing > more > choose among bold, italic, strikethrough and monospace.
