These days many of us face the problem of bad signal strength or no signal in our smartphones which results in call drops, slow internet speed, poor voice quality, struck text and email messages. Poor signal strength affects productivity and can be very frustrating. If you are facing this problem, follow these tips to boost signal strength.
Remove mobile cover/case blocking the antenna of your smartphone:
Mobile case/cover protects the smartphone from damage when dropped but at the same time it will also affect the signal strength. Also hold the phone in such a way that it does not block the antenna bands.
Remove obstructions between your smartphone and the cell tower:
- Move near to a window or an open area.
- Move away from any object or wall made of metal or concrete.
- Keep your smartphone away from the electronic equipment and metal objects.
Smartphones are designed to save battery when it is low and while
finding signal our cell phones consume battery. So, when smartphone's
battery is low, chances are it may find it difficult to search the
signal. Turn off connectivity options which are not in use in these cases.
When you feel that the signal strength of the phone has dropped all of a sudden, check your SIM card for any damage or dust as this can also be one of the reasons for poor signal strength.
Switch back to 2G or 3G network
In some places we see that the signal strength of the 4G network weak. Our cell phones are designed to make the network mode switch automatically when the signal reception of a particular mode is weak, however, the the devices keep on pushing the priority network mode and this may result in frequent call drops.
To fix this, manually select the network mode in the settings of the phone.
Android users: Go to connection settings -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode -> Choose 2G only or 3G only option.
iPhone users: Go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular data options -> Disable the ‘ Enable 4G’ toggle.
