What is SEO?
The word SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”.
SEO is the process of getting traffic from organic, free or Natural search
results. In other words Search Engine optimization is the practice of maximizing
the quality and quantity of traffic to a website. This traffic could be via
organic search results or via natural search results.
Search engines i.e Google, Yahoo and Bing fetch
results based on what they consider as most relevant to users.
What is included in SEO?
Quality of Traffic:
Quality of traffic is attracting
visitors who are really interested in your products, content or the Brand.
Quantity of Traffic:
Having the right visitors
clicking through from search engine result pages.
Organic results:
Organic traffic is the traffic for
which one need not pay for.
How does Search Engine Optimization/SEO work?
The search engine (Google, Bing or Yahoo) that we
visit to type our queries magically replies with a list of links to web pages
that answer our questions.
Have you ever tried finding how it works?
Well, the search engine (Google/Bing/Yahoo) has a
crawler that fetches the information about the search query on Internet. The crawlers
then bring all 1s and 0s back to search engine to build an Index. The generated
Index is then fed through an algorithm that tries to match all the data with
the search query.
